"This is like winning the lottery for us."
Research has confirmed many equine therapy benefits. It lowers your blood pressure and heart rate, alleviates stress and reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression. Equine therapy also helps people struggling with addictions or mental illness. There are several life skills that horse's can teach us better than any person could.
With summer approaching and blue skies on the horizon, we have had the pleasure of taking some of our clients to visit the horse's we look after. We are very lucky to be able to provide this service at WSS and nothing brings us more pleasure than to see our clients connecting with these beautiful animals.
We currently take six of our client's to visit the horse's and these are the sorts of things we get up to:
- Grooming the horse's
- Feeding them carrots and peppermints
- Bathing the horse's
- Picnics in the field and watching them graze
- Helping with mucking out and providing fresh water in the fields
- Taking them for walks
- Horse riding
We would like to say a big thank you to the staff who have helped make this happen and we look forward to a great summer!

This morning's latest news with BBC Breakfast was all about how horse's are having a massive impact on people with Dementia. Horse's bring a lot of happiness to people's lives and can help trigger memories big or small. These create fantastic reminiscing sessions which also bring happiness to family members. Here at Woodhall Support Services Ltd this is something we can provide as a service! Take a look at one of our clients to the right who had not been on a horse in over 5 years.
"I feel like I am a young woman all over again. I can't believe the happiness it has brought me to be able to stroke these beautiful animals again. I have always wanted to get back in the saddle and I could not have done it without the help and support of Woodhall Support Services. Thank you"
